About Us

Hi! I'm Don Elfner the proprietor and craftsman at Elfner Guitars. Foremost a guitar enthusiast and dabbler in guitar set-ups, I decided in 1997 to pursue a career in guitar building, restoration and sales of vintage guitars, and used guitar repairs.

I went to see Sergei DeJong in Oshawa, Ontario who apprenticed under Jean Larrivee. Once finished with training, it was time to put my knowledge to practical use and begin my journey in the art of guitar building, design, set-ups and repairs.

But before that we had to undertake some major renovations of our old 1920's schoolhouse to accommodate different workstations and an additional jam room for my band and for customers that may want to try out our guitars and equipment.

Looking after the correspondence and bookkeeping at Elfner Guitars is my wife Rita. We have been married for nine years and have a son named Gibson is now in his second year.

Desiring to reach more people interested in having a handmade guitar or in need of a repair or set-up, I decided it was time to hit the World Wide Web. With a little help here we are! So welcome to all of you with a passion for guitars.
